Our Principal Planner, Jessica Hird was flying the flag for women working in the built environment at Nottingham Trent University yesterday, alongside colleagues from Nottingham Women in Construction.
Female students and delegates across Nottinghamshire came together for an evening of networking and sharing our experiences as a female in the built environment.
Jessica personally spoke about her own journey into the built environment which came about through her interest in Geography and a dissertation on the rural idyll and development in rural areas. As well as reflecting on her career and the groundings of a year in the industry before enrolling onto a masters to study Urban Design and Planning. Now that Jessica is in her seventh year in the construction industry she shared her insights into the powerful, but daunting, tool of networking and how much you can learn from sharing experiences and connections.
It was an amazing evening to speak to the students at NTU and catch up with some of the delegates.
The room was lit up with enthusiasm for the next generation of women in the built environment and STAT Planning had an amazing evening speaking to the students at the NTU and catching up with some of the delegates.
It was great to see STAT Planning promoting the planning profession!
